Designed by Alexis Dornier Studio, the Villa Omah prana is a circular home in the highlands of Payangan. Following a ring-shaped plan, the design orientates all the functional spaces toward the surrounding landscape. The result is seemingly fluid spaces that transition beautifully into the exterior, while providing privacy.
The building is organized around a single center point, with concentric circles of spaces defining the plan. The living room opens up to both the courtyard and the exterior. The shared center gives the home a quiet sense of order. Private spaces like the bedrooms remain enclosed, air-conditioned and sheltered. The geometry behaves almost like ripples expanding from one moment of impact: simple, readable, and consistent.
The materiality and surface treatment are inspired by Bali’s traditional weaving. Brickwork laid in herringbone patterns, interlaced wall textures, and subtle geometric motifs reinterpret local craft in a contemporary way adding tactility and depth without overwhelming the architecture.
The house invites close inspection. It is rich in detail yet calm in presence. Its cinematic quality draws from early Ken Adam sketches for Moonraker, particularly the confidence of a bold geometric move and the disciplined clarity of spatial composition. The curvature and controlled sequencing of spaces create a deliberate architectural experience without becoming theatrical.
At its core, Villa Omah Prana is structured around a circular, concentric plan that anchors every element to a shared center. Material expression and local craftsmanship reinforce this geometry, while the layout maintains a continuous visual and spatial relationship with the surrounding landscape of Payangan, Bali.
