The House in Tvaladi designed by the NS STUDIO is a single-storey home that blends stone and timber construction with open, modern volumes and expansive windows that frame views of the surrounding landscape. The design is a perfect culmination of traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

The house is conceived as a synthesis of old and new. The overall form of the design is distinctly modern, but the stone facade is a nod to its local and historical context. A visual and material continuity is achieved using stone and wood, in both the exterior and interior spaces.

Natural materials form the core of the design. Stone and timber add a touch of warmth and tactility while the large glazed openings create a strong visual connection between the built and the unbuilt context. The natural light, spanning views and the landscape become integral to the experience of the house.

The interior is defined by a balance between rough and refined materials. Finishes are chosen for their texture and visual contrast, ranging from raw surfaces to polished details. This careful material selection results in an interior that feels cohesive, while offering variation in tone and feel.

The furnishings echo the architecture language, with simple wooden pieces and natural fiber elements complementing the material palette without overwhelming the space. Mood lighting is integrated to enhance the warmth of the materials, using soft, indirect light sources that emphasize texture and create a calm, inviting atmosphere.
A cellar set perpendicular to the main volume provides functional space while continuing the architectural language of the house. Its placement reinforces spatial harmony and contributes to a unified composition across the property.

The Tvaladi residence showcases how contemporary architecture can harmonize with tradition. Through the thoughtful use of stone, wood, landscape, and light, the design achieves a refined balance between past and present, inside and outside, nature and built form.
