Corona virus has definitely changed our lives, right from our everyday routine to shopping habits to way of eating. People who would never carry their own shopping bag started taking their own carry bag to bring stuff home after shopping, people who are used to eating from outside every other day, are now eating better and right at home.
What the post-corona virus world holds for us, is not very easy to imagine, but few habits that we start now are most likely to stay. Meanwhile, to stay safe, and dine in style, singer Pharrell Williams’s creative brand I Am Other, has collaborated with design studio Pentatonic, to design cutlery set that is perfect for this pandemic period and even after.
The kit contains a fork, a knife, a spoon, a straw and a set of chopsticks that fit easily inside a smooth case, perfect to be carried around. The Pebble collection is probably the best alternative to single-use plastic cutlery that is just cluttering-up the planet. The effects on environment has been ignored till now by vast majority, but coronavirus has slowed down the usage of plastic cutlery. Unlike the other non-plastic, sustainable options out there, The Pebble collection is made from disposed CDs and polypropylene from sources including used food packaging, that are sorted, cleaned and up-cycled to make the cutlery. Pentatonic estimates that 10 billion CDs and DVDs have been discounted in the U.S. alone since 2005.
The end products are entirely re-recyclable at the end of life. The product will be brought back by Pentatonic at trade value, and the materials will be re-purposed into another product.
