The Passage House, designed by Y.Architectural.Design is built on a site uphill from the coastline of Japan. The clients were born and raised in this town, and they wanted to bring in as much essence of the place as they could into the design of the residence. The quaint house sits between the mountains that towers near the sea. The design follows the natural contours of the site, and is planned to best suit the context as well as the users.
The garage and study areas are planned in the basement floor. The living room on the first floor opens out to a terrace facing the sea side creating a serene space to take in the nature. The designers describe the house massing as somewhat like a dam that passes through the valley, with winds from the valley passed through building and the sunsets at the sea creating a unique ambience for the residents.
The design was completed with priority to environmentally conscious materials.  The interior has been designed using natural materials and wood as well.
